CRECER students have to adapt to a new culture in addition to their fieldwork experience. While this is often challenging, our students report feeling more self-aware and equipped for employment after their time in Ecuador.
Incomplete development of cultural competency can cause students to experience dissatisfaction and frustration with international experiences.
Cultural Competency is a required self-study program for incoming Level II Fieldwork students and is encouraged for other students. The program includes specific content and instructional methods to help prepare clinically and culturally competent therapists.
